15-year-old with a gun among suspects in attempted carjacking in Kitchener

A 15-year-old boy and another teen are facing charges after an attempted armed carjacking in Kitchener.

Regional police said it happened around 6:20, Thursday evening, on Belmont Avenue West.

A woman was getting into her white Lexus car, when three male suspects came up to her.

Police said one of them was brandishing a gun.

They tried to get her out of car but couldn’t, and when bystanders started coming over, the suspects ran off.

Responding officers found two of the three of the suspects behind a business on King Street South near Union Boulevard.

Police allegedly seized a silver revolver handgun.

The 15 and 17-year-olds are both charged with attempt robbery with a firearm, and disguise with intent.

The 15-year-old was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police are still looking for the third suspect, described only as a thin, Black male teenager.

There is no report of anyone being hurt.
